Many around the world are familiar with the powerful account known as The Exodus. Numerous movies have endeavored to capture the tremendous miracles that took place in the land of Egypt. From the plagues to the parting of the Red Sea, the hand of our Creator was witnessed by hundreds of thousands of people. Hundreds of thousands experienced the mighty hand of deliverance our Creator possesses! Besides ignoring the reality that these true events shaped and defined a whole nation, many have overlooked the most impressive part of the story. God gave His people a priceless gift: the means to deliver them from a different more binding slavery that all mankind unknowingly experience. It is a timeless gift that was to be passed down from generation to generation—the same power being available to all who wield it. For some, it’s easy to miss. Many failed to pass it along to their children. Yet, we have our Creator to thank for carefully preserving it so that anyone who desires to find this gem can uncover and apply it.
The power of this gift is promised in the very first chapter of the book of Moses’ successor: Joshua. The sad truth is that anyone can read the words recorded in the text, but few strive to apply them and consequently fail to experience their unmatched power. I was one of these people!! I would try and read the Word of God, yet it just remained irrelevant words on paper. At that time, the Bible was “old news,” dated, and irrelevant. It wasn’t until I begged the Father to forgive me and give me eyes to see what He has said that His words finally became real. I later realized that I needed the Holy Spirit to bring them to life. Fervent prayer and a desire of obedience to apply the Word encouraged change. After 6 to 9 months of consistent prayer, asking for more than faith but to know Yeshua, my plea was finally answered! Little did I know that I was fervently praying as Luke 11:1-13 describes—which promises that my prayer would be answered! The reality is that everyone can experience why people call the Bible the “Living Word of God”—and only then can one truly uncover this pearl of wisdom. We just need to humble ourselves, take time before God in prayer, and beg for forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit for eyes to see, ears to hear, and for Him to bring the Holy Scriptures to life. What are you waiting for?
So will these just be words on a screen? Or will you allow the Holy Spirit to let them be the light to your life and the gem you’ve been searching for? Pray for eyes to see and ears to hear, then take a look at this amazing record in Joshua.
For context, this passage records the declaration given after the amazing deliverance in the Exodus and the wandering in the wilderness as the people wrestled with God. Our Creator promised to free them from slavery and deliver them into the promised land—a land flowing with milk and honey! The first part was miraculously completed and the people are about to experience the second half of that promise. Our Father always follows through with His promises!
Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying, “Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel. Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory. No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.
Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.
This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:1-9 NASB
Our Father instructs His children, Israel, to be strong and courageous. For the obvious reason that they had many physical battles ahead of them to conquer and receive the promised land. But it goes deeper than that. He is calling His people to be strong and courageous in all that they do. He has given them a gift to meditate on and wield in order to conquer all things and be prosperous in all that they do. God has given His people perfect instructions on how to live in true freedom. He gave them His Torah—the Law of Moses! The Law is a recorded set of instructions that were given to Moses and delivered to YHVH's people—being written down throughout their wanderings in the wilderness so that it may never be lost. Scripture defines the Law of Moses as the revealed character and image of God Most High! They are His Ways!
If you want to know who our Creator is, what He looks like, and the image he created us to be, turn to the Torah—read the first five books of the Bible! Remember, we were created in His image (Genesis 1:26). If we desire to return to the perfect image we were created, before sin entered the world, we must strive to walk as our Father walks.
Therefore, you shall keep the commandments of YHVH your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.
Deuteronomy 8:6
Now, Israel, what does YHVH your God require from you, but to fear YHVH your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve YHVH your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deuteronomy 10:12
For if you are careful to keep all this commandment (the Law of Moses) which I am commanding you to do, to love YHVH your God, to walk in all His ways and hold fast to Him, then YHVH will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you. Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours… No man will be able to stand before you; YHVH your God will lay the dread of you and the fear of you on all the land on which you set foot, as He has spoken to you.
Deuteronomy 11:22-25
The Torah is the revealed image of our Creator. No wonder he commands us to be strong and courageous! He has given us the instructions we need to walk in His very image! When we strive to walk in His image, he promises that we will be prosperous! This is the jewel many miss!
Much of Christianity only clings to a small portion of these perfect commands. That means that most are witnessing only a small portion of their delivering power! Many have only tasted a small reality that the instructions of the Most High deliver us from the blinding slavery of sin! Listen again to these powerful words that YHVH commands Joshua to instruct his people:
Joshua 1:6-9
What are we to do if we desire to be delivered from all things and move toward prosperity and blessings?
Assume a position of strength and courage: are we not children of the Most High? Did we not witness his powerful hand that delivered our forefathers out of Egypt? Do we trust that he is true to His Word?
YHVH will keep his promise: This instance is one of many recorded proofs that YHVH keeps His Word. Even though the people fumbled and sinned against Him in their wanderings throughout the wilderness, YHVH keeps his promise to bring his children into the promised land. He will do the same for all who call upon His mighty name!
Again, be strong and courageous, being careful to do according to all the Law which Moses commanded us. Walk in the straight line, and do not depart to the right or left. If you strive to stay true to YHVH’s instructions, you will have success wherever you go: This is a promise that is this simple: If you live a life of repentance, turning away from your sins, and strive to walk according to the Way of YHVH—keeping his Torah—He promises you will be successful wherever you go. Do you trust and believe Him? Have you striven to keep all His instructions?
We cannot lose or forsake the Law of Moses. It is to be meditated upon day and night. Why? So we know what His instructions are and we are equipped to carefully do them: Many camp out in the “New Testament” and never take the time to even read the Torah, let alone strive to apply them in their lives. Will you take God at His Word and strive to walk in His Ways?
Do you realize that keeping the Torah is a command from our Creator? Therefore, be strong and courageous and cling to these perfect instructions. Do not tremble or be dismayed, because when you strive to walk with YHVH, He is with you wherever you go. That is a promise from the ultimate deliverer.
This amazing gift, the Torah, the perfect instructions that give us true freedom, has been witnessed in the flesh. Yes, this very Word became flesh and dwelt among us—Yeshua our Messiah! Furthermore, our Messiah is willing to walk with us and support us as we endeavor to fully repent. Yeshua (Jesus), historically recorded in the Apostolic Scriptures (“New Testament”), kept the Law of Moses perfectly and taught others to do the same. He showed us how to live it! On top of that, he promised to fill us with the Holy Spirit to give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and encouragement to follow through! This is the most powerful gift that has ever graced this earth!
Not only do those who strive to live Torah positively change their lives inside and out, but they become focused and intentional about lovingly impacting the lives of those around them. This precious gift impacts more than ourselves! When one lives according to the perfect instructions and image of the Most High, they radiate a piece of his immeasurable love! This is the whole purpose of the Law of Moses, to teach sinless mankind how to repent and Love our Creator and Love others!
Don't you want to love the one who made you? Who brought you into existence? The one who gave us delicious food to enjoy, laughter to share among friends, and the embrace of our spouse? Furthermore, don't you want to love those around you? Isn't true peace experienced when you espouse sincere love and respect for others?
The very beginning of Joshua is another example that gives a glimpse into the precious gift that our Creator gave us—the gift that can help us love Him and love our neighbors in a tremendous way. This priceless and free gift is the Torah, witnessed and experienced through our Messiah, and brought to life by the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, we have the freedom to stumble and pick ourselves back up as we journey through our sanctification process—because of our selfless Messiah!
Don't wait another moment. Beg the Father for eyes to see and ears to hear this truth. Humble yourself and relentlessly beg Him for the Holy Spirit!
He will fulfill His promise.
Guaranteed.

As a follower of Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus), Sean encourages believers to deepen their faith, seek the truth, test everything, and be willing to walk in the true image they were created: the image of the Most High and His flawless Son.
Take the time to read Luke 11:1-13:
11 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples.” 2 And He said to them, “When you pray, say:
‘Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. 3 ‘Give us each day our daily bread. 4 ‘And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.’”
5 Then He said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and from inside he answers and says, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened. 11 Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? 12 Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”
